The patented BogaGrip is a high quality fish landing, handling and weighing tool. With easy, one-handed operation the BogaGrip handles fish by encompassing the fish's lower jawbone and works on most species of fish. Model 130 will easily handle 30 pound fish; model 315 will handle 15 pound fish.
All metal parts are stainless steel and all plastic parts are made of black acetal, which is a high performance engineering thermoplastic that is used in unlubricated bearing applications. Acetal is tough and very resistant to UV light. You'll find the BogaGrip to be very strong and resistant to conditions encountered while fishing in fresh or saltwater.

Each BogaGrip's scale is calibrated with certified weights to insure accuracy within one increment. You can send your BogaGrip to IGFA (954-927-2628 Dania Beach, FL) where they can certify it for world record catches.

BogaGrip features four functions acting together that makes it such a handy fishing tool.
  • Jaws are arranged such that the weight of the fish will cause the jaws to shut even tighter
  • Locking mechanism keeps jaws in their tightest position
  • Swivel motion eliminates torque from a spinning fish
  • Shock absorber dampens a fish's attempt to get free
Additional features:
  • Great for catch & release fishing - weigh and photograph your fish in a short amount of time
  • Keeps hands dry in cold weather
  • Easy maintenance; long lasting durability
  • Stainless steel construction
  • Scales embossed in stainless steel tubing for durability
  • Fits in most tackle boxes
  • Made in the U.S.A.

Worth it.
Been waiting to buy this for sometime. Went through many cheaper boat scales over that time. This thing is accurate and helpful for landing fish. Also useful for steadying the fish while you remove hooks from the mouth.
ProsCan get an accurate weight on trophy fish on the boat and release them.
ConsNeeded to buy a separate bouy ball for floatation in case it goes over board.

must have
If your like me fishing saltwater and fresh your going to love the easy of this tool which gives you a good hold on all fish types. At the same time you can find out how big of a fish you've got.
ProsI know theirs 8lb 1oz bass in my back yard. :) The best part is the cleaning, you will love how easy it is to take apart and back on in mints time

status symbol and also works better and more precise than cheaper alternatives
made in the great u.s.a and built with good materials, a grip like this lasts a lifetime, yes it is pricy, but good things are not cheap. accurate measuments. fantastic.
Prossuper accurate and built like a tank, does require maintenance.

Works good once you get the hang of it
Works good once you get used to the process of opening the jaws and letting gravity lockdown on the jaw while holding the handle. Weight increments are in 1/4 lbs. More precise than the 30 & 60 lb models, which are in 1/2 lb increments. Very pricey. Cheaper options will work just as well and give a more precise measurement. Requires occasional maintenance to prevent corrosion. Like Yeti Coolers, this is more of a status symbol than a useful fishing tool.
ProsBuilt well with good materials
ConsVery pricey

Lip grip
I used one of these on a trip with a guide in Islamorada and it worked great. Bought a cheap plastic one, but the narrow width of the BogaGrip is better for more sizes of fish. It's a great, quality made product. It doesn't float, so I would suggest some sort of floatation. I used two 6" pieces of styrofoam pool noodle tied with the BogaGrip's wrist straps.
ProsStainless Precision engineered Positive hold Scale
ConsHeavier than the plastic versions Needs a float in case it's dropped overboard

Time to get a grip
Folk's? I am in favor of cutting corners just like everyone else, but you know what? sometimes that idea just does not hold water. Either you buy one good one or you can buy 2+ garbage ones. Now here is an item that totally speaks and proves itself every time you use it. I can see only one con here and that is when someone else wants to use it you need to hold your breath and hope that he/she does not drop it overboard, not because of the $ but for what it is, I call my 30 & 60lb. boga's my pride and joy and should I leave either one of them behind it can be depressing when you when you get out there and find that you don't have them. Sure!, there are other one's out there just like the boga's and they work almost as well but down the road? Well!? you will see for yourself. If I sound overly thrilled about my boga's, it is because I am. Go for the buck's on this one, you will not regret it. I call my baga's the lie detector's ( something like that one fish that gains five pounds everytime the story is told ). Thank you boga and thank you folk's for listening.
ProsSuper accuracy ~~~ heavy duty ~~~ SS throughout ~~~ a long lasting hand grip like no other
ConsHave to worry about one being dropped overboard when someone else uses them ~~~ Raises way too many questions but in a nice way, (where did you get much did they cost...and then the deadly and enevitable question, can I borrow it.

Awesme product!
I have had a Boga Grip for around 3 years and it has been abused. It still is working great and I haven't had a problem yet! My only complaint is, the 60lb model is a bit bulky to have on your belt if you are swimming to a rock. Otherwise, it's great!

Excellent Quality, but do you really need it?
The best tool for catch and release fisherman who handle toothy fish regularly. Now with that said, from my own personal experience, with fish that can be landed by hand or a gloved hand, this tool is cumbersome. A wiggling fish will not be as easy as you might think to latch onto with the Boga. Also if traveling light is critical, this is the first piece of gear that stays home. I'll stick to measuring my stripers with a tape.
ProsExcellent quality
ConsNo maximum reading pointer.
