The Long-range sniper of our lineup, the Wind Cheater throws like a bullet and will hit the X better than any bait on the market. Its realistic wounded action provokes violent attacks, and its ultra-high-tensile-strength, virtually indestructible body is always up to the test. Saltwater Grade hangers, split rings and hooks honed razor sharp stick'em deep and won't let go.

Very good but not great
This is a very good lure...casts a mile and stripers really like them either trolled around 3 mph or used as a jerk-bait. I've caught many fish on this lure but they are not as sturdy as i thought. Had a 50 lb striper boat side and just ready to lip the fish when she gave one last tremendous head shake and literally tore the rear treble hook completely out of the lure. If this was truly a salt water lure it would have a "wire thru lure hook system". I will continue to buy and use these tried and true fish catchers.
ProsCasts great and fish like them.
ConsNo wire thru construction

Great action but not so great casting
So I wanted some lure that can dive so I got this based on previous experience with bombers before and I also wanted something that could be used when winds are blowing hard. So I got this lure and went to using it in a 15-20 mph windy day and 5-7 mph wind on another day. From my experience, the lure swim nicely and dive as advertised and it can reach bottom if reeled fast in a shallow water. Unfortunately, it does NOT cast far compared to other lures with similar specification (6 inch and 1 7/8 ounce). Under moderate wind, it cast similar to metal lip but dive much deeper. Under high wind, I would not even try using it as it was blown back to the beach and push by waves so you can not keep contact with the lure. This could be great for trolling from a kayak!
Prosgreat action and dive as advertised
Consnot for high windy days

I changed the back treble to a single as I do with all my plugs and the action was not affected. The plug has a good balance and will definitely be a wind cheater. I'm hoping the mackerel coloring will be effective.
ConsNone that I can see

Long casting plug
True to name, this plug casts a long way. Deadly on redfish and spotted sea trout.

Effective and casts pretty well
Have a couple of the 6" version in blue for when the mullet are around and a couple 6" in gold chrome to match the hatch when bunker are around. Compared to the Long A and A Salt (which cast like potato chips) this plug casts much farther in comparison. I have caught a bunch of stripers, blues on both colors. I prefer to use this plug in calmer surf conditions as it doesn't swim well in rougher white water and tends to tumble on itself quite a bit. Where this plug really shines is on the breachways and an outgoing tide. I cast to the center of the breachway and let out 80-100 yds of line. I'll let the current do most of the work and use a slow retrieve, periodically stopping and letting the plug just wiggle in the current. Many times it's when I stop it that I get hit. Fun plug to fish. Recommendation, change out the hooks with either 2/0 or 3/0 VMCs. The stock hooks are cheap and will bend on a good fish.

Great for trolling in the yak!
This lure dives down quite a bit more than most inshore swimming plugs, probably about 6 feet. While ineffective for shore fishing, it is perfect for kayak fishing, I use it to troll behind my kayak for stripers while paddling close to shore/reefs/boulder fields. It is a floating model, so If I want to stop and cast with my other rod, I don't have to worry about it sinking. It comes right up to the surface. I got the chicken scratch color and stripers love it.

First reaction to the name windcheater was that it would "cheat the wind" for extra casting distance. I was wrong to assume that.. It does not cast cleanly, especially in the wind--end over end tendency in the wind . Not built for distance casting but swims very nice and will catch fish. Probably better suited for trolling or close casting not distance casting in the surf for sure.
Prosnice swimming action reasonable pricing
Constendency for end-over-end casting in wind

Wind Cheater catches stripers
The Bomber Wind Cheater delivers. I use it to catch schooled stripped bass suspended in 10-20' depths in the upper Chesapeake Bay. The rip-and-pause retrieve works best.
ProsThey run true and perform as advertised.
ConsI would like a model that runs just slightly deeper.
