used it for speckled trout and reds when I was in NC. The knobs provide a really nice grip when you really hook into a big fish. the reel has held up really well in the salt environment

Awesome reel

I’ve used this reel for two seasons for flounder, bluefish and stripers and it’s been flawless. Great casting and smooth retrieve under any kind of load. Paired with a Star seagis it feels like a light freshwater setup, but it has the muscle to handle just about anything.

I have fished this reel pretty hard the last 2 seasons....Always rinsed her off after every outing.Took her wade fishing last summer and she took a bath.Sounds stupid to some but not the reel tech,I always rinse my rods off in the shower....Tech took her apart and said "Keep doing what your doing reel is spotless" and your not the only one who rinses his reels off in the shower lol
GREAT REEL buying another soon

How many yards of 20# braid will this reel hold? Thanks in advance

roughly 250-275 yards of 20# braid.

Daiwa doesn't provide a capacity rating for 20# braid but I would estimate the reel would hold approximately 350 yards.

Will the St. Croix Mojo 7’6” Medium Heavy Fast action Inshore Casting Rod match the Daiwa Coastal TWS Baitcasting Reel?

Thinking about this reel for bass and inshore fishing.

1 Answer
Hello Hector,

Yes, that rod would pair well with the coastal for what you are trying to use it for.

Tight lines!

What’s the difference between this reel and the zillion hd
1 Answer

They are pretty similar reels but have a few differences outside of price. The Coastal TWS is a 200 sized reel while the Zillion HD is a 100 size. The Zillion ends up being slightly lighter at the expense of reduced line capacity.

Coastal has corrosion-resistant bearings while the Zillion HD has Mag-Sealed Bearings.

Zillion has a dual-bearing supported spool, Coastal does not.

Both have the same spool, sale handle, same knobs, same drag.

Essentially, the Coastal TWS should be viewed as an upgraded 200 size Tatula designed for the saltwater market while the Zillion HD is on another platform that should be safe in saltwater as well.
