Tackle Direct comes through again.
May 16, 2019
When I find something new or not available locally they alway come through no matter where I live. That why I have been coming back for almost 15 years whether Im on the east west gulf coast or smack dab in the middle. Thanks again Gents.

Now to the reel. Man what a beast! I replaced a Diawa Procyon 3500 with a 4000 Back Bay lt. Line capacity is supposed to be 300 of 6lb and I run 10lb pp which is supposed to have 2 lb diameter i got about 225 yds. That will be more than enough with drag and braid breaking at double usualy. Its paired on a Diawa Harrier 7'6 mh rod. Another TD special. It is very light, perfectly balanced and ready to smash Redfish, Speck trout, Snook and Flounder.

Thanks again Tackle Direct! I would not have this killer inshore setup to smash all these Florida fish without you guys!

Bought the 4000 to put on a back bay rod for throwing popping corks. Hauled in a 23" striper within a couple of hours after ups delivered it. Smooth as silk all around.
ProsSmoothest spinner I've owned. Perfect drag

Smooth reel

I love these reels! I have both the saltist backbay & regular saltist in the 3000 size. Perfect for inshore fishing. Excellent drag pressure to keep feisty reds out of the jetty rocks and for solid hooksets. Super smooth operation & lightweight.

Beautiful light reel
January 19, 2019
I bought this reel for its light and water tight build, it seemed perfect except for the clacking sound at the same point on every rotation. I believe that there is too much room in either the main gear and handle or the main shaft and spool. I recently bought a Daiwa conventional reel that had the same irritating banging sound on every spool rotation, I love my Van Staal and Penn Spinfisher VI from Tackle Direct.
ProsLightweight, comfortable and water tight
ConsUseless anti reverse switch and noisy operation

Inshore slammin' - love this reel.

Black Betty BAM A LAM! I had a couple of older saltists and picked this up earlier this Summer. Snooks, Reds, Specks - this feels great in your hand, casts a mile and reels them in smoother than hot butter.
ProsStill has a bit of weight to it - could be pro or con - depending on what you like.
ConsI wish they would have kept some of the blue appearance for the Saltist line. I like my blues in my rods (custom Key Largo rods) and reels.

Is this reel in the 300 and 4000 like a BG size or an LT size a ballistic or fuego 3000 or 4000? I assume its the BG frame and from what ive seen and heard its more a BG than a Saltist. I need a new reel and somewhat fast 2 of my battles failed in the past couple weeks,  Its down to a VI 3500 or a back bay.  I would be using it on the beach sometimes, normally I would go with the VI for the durability but I think im careful enough with my gear to get a few years out of the Diawa.
1 Answer
The bg's are bigger heavier reels the saltist are more comparable to a fuego
