The Halco Max Lure is designed for jigging, casting and trollng. It is a great lure to troll while traveling from spot to spot due to its high speed characteristics.
When casting Max into deeper water, vary the time you allow the lure to sink before starting the retrieve so the lure covers the different depths where fish could be holding. Work the lure back at speed for best results. This lure was named the Best New Hard Body Lure at the 2007 Australian Tackle Show.

Great trolling lure for yellowfin tuna!
Yellowfin tuna jump all over these lures. However, replace the hooks and split rings, otherwise you'll be bummed. I had two hooks break on fish before I changed them all out. Not sure why Halco uses such inexpensive hardware.
ProsPlacement in the trolling spread is not critical with these. They work both "short" and "long".
ConsCheap hooks and rings.

Great TX Tuna lure.
Great lure, very cast ablel.
Prosthese cast able lures can really do some damage on the TX tuna.
ConsThe finish seem to be prone to damage,

tuna can't stop biting
i used these Halco Max 130 lures (yes TD, you have the name wrong) on overnight fishing trips out of Galveston, TX. I have yet to catch a yellowfin tuna, but the blackfin tuna can't stay away from this lure. From what I have seen, a large majority of fishermen use this lure on these trips.
Prosnot pricey, light weight (2.5 oz) so it's easy to cast,
Consnone that I can think of. some people swap out the hooks for slightly bigger hooks with thicker gauge steel

Great running lure
Ran two of these lures close to the transom, one rigged on 6 feet of 150# Momoi and second rigged on coated 125# cable. They both tracked nice at 5-8 knots and should easily track fine at faster speeds. Caught False Albacore and Bluefish on the Sardine and also the Pink Chrome. Time of year was early fall off Maryland coast 20 fathom area. I plan to pull at least one of these in my spread this spring along with cedar plugs, am interested to see how it does in shore on the Bluefin.
ProsBright reflective eyes and finish Nice in between size plug easier to deploy
