Cushions the blow
May 19, 2020
Pretty good cushion. I probably should've bought the smaller one, this model lacks the rigidness and will bending on its side.
ProsDoes provide cushion Slips on too the rod butt easily
ConsNot rigid enough, theres a lot of flex. When one has a fish on, the cushion will bend where the side wall will be protecting and not the butt itself.

So difficult to pick the right size.
May 2, 2020
Very difficult to pick the right size. "Luna Sea" has assured me they will work on this.
"Inshore", is the better bet for most UK use.
The "All Species" is massive. Think 50 to 80lb class work. I've got far too many.
Last batch of "Inshore" including a "Leader Mate" came direct from "Luna Sea" themselves.
The "Inshore" fits an AFTCO #1.
Fit without washing up liquid or it will never hold on the taper.
Really compliments "acid rung" rods that do not need a gimbal plate to stop twist.
Covers most of my lighter gear.
Thus, the big "Smitty's" gimbal plate can generally be left at home.
Ideal, for those on Cardiac meds, like myself, who bruise very easily. Job sorted.
Malcolm Hayward.
ProsIf you manage to get the right size. Super light. Minimises bruising. Wonderful for those of us on Cardiac meds. Use with acid "rung rods" and leave the big plate at home. Visible colours. Does not slip on deck. Helps balance. Floats dropped gear "claim". Both "Tackle Direct" and "Luna Sea" themselves stock the range.
ConsGetting the right size, mail order. Won't fit through your "Scotty" rod holder. Means a dance that I hate but worth it. Much prefer to fit my "Cush-it" on hard like a big gimbal cover. Never want to be chasing your "Cush-it" around the scuppers. Not cheap. No supplier in UK.

Works well when catching large sturgeon on light gear. Makes the long fight easier on your body.

good substitute for a belt

Given the scenario, this is a good substitute for a belt. It relieves that pain and bruising against the body. Not an overall substitute for a belt but a good choice for those that like their skin.

No more raw hips/groan
May 17, 2019
Got these today, 2 each, need more and although I have not fished with them yet, they are on my two deep sea boat rods and WOW, I know there will be no more raw hips, groan, or lower belly. What a tremendous idea. A little pricey but hey someone has to make their million and I hope they do!! Should have found these like, thirty years ago.

Quicker and Easier than a Belt for Standup Fishing
January 20, 2019
Looking forward to using these for stripers this spring and tuna this summer. Fit my rods perfectly. Just the right size, and seems easier than strapping on a belt.

Works great wether against stomache to fight heavy fish , or under armpit to fight hard running fish
ProsQuicker than trying to strap on a fighting belt , especially when already hooked up
