For the serious blue water fisherman, spring loaded 6-1/2" Super Pliers or the familiar 5" size without spring. Both pliers stay sharp cutting wire long after other brands are thrown away. Super Pliers are available with our popular black oxide coating or rust resistant Teflon. Daily fresh water rinse and oil will ensure years of service. Tested from St. Thomas to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

Great Pliers
July 11, 2021
Been using Manley Super Pliers for many years. For offshore fishing they are stronger and more reliable than needle nose types. Much easier to remove offshore hooks due to their beefier construction.
  • Strong and efficient
  • Some discoloration with saltwater use. Clean with fresh soapy water and silicone spray after a days saltwater fishing

Great pliers
December 15, 2020
The super pliers are seriously stout, the cutter is tough as nails and in a great spot for cutting wire, mono etc. 61/2 size fits my hand well.
  • Overall well designed and well made.
  • Needs a predrilled lanyard hole. Other than that, awesome tool for fishing.

Have had 3 of these great little pliers
August 19, 2017
I'm a Ocean kayak fisherman and surf caster. These little plier are tough and take a lot of abuse . The only reason I have had to replace them is one fell in the ocean and one got lost.
  • Durable

Started using Manley 5" 2007's after picking them up at Sunset Marina during the White Marlin Open last year. Since then they have been indispensable for me during offshore trips for pelagics and inshore trips for red drum. I dropped mine in the water (the fate of so many a favorite fishing tool, it seems) at the very end of last season, and I've ordered a replacement for myself and an additional pair as a Christmas present for my right-hand man.

Solid pliers
August 29, 2015
These are among the best fishing pliers you can find. Very solid, strong enough to cut through large hooks in an emergency if needed. However, they are heavy and not suited for the surf unless you are willing to take exceptional care of them after each outing. Not that they will get ruined, but will cosmetically acquire rust.
  • Solid and dependable, will last forever
  • Best kept in your truck or used on a boat, not in the surf.

best pliers for the money
August 7, 2015
I have tried hardware store pliers and two high end expensive fishing brands without complete satisfaction. So, I am back to a pair of the English made Manley pliers. The squared off nose grip is by far the strongest and most positive gripping and the cutting anvils are bullet proof. Done buying pliers for another 10+ years when the Manleys "might " need to be replaced.

Absolutely the finest pliers on the planet
August 19, 2014
I have owned pliers up to $375 per pair, and 15 years later of everyday fishing, these are the best. They still cut like they did on day one, still tight and strong. NOTE: they will rust, but its normal and its surface rust and DOES NOT at all effect performance. its more like a tarnish. I have 2 pairs over 15 years old and one newer one, you'd never know.
  • the best you can get
  • they last too long

Nice pliers can cut a 4x hook without a problem. Without being rinsed and lubed they can rust but as long as they are taken care of you cant go wrong
  • can rust without care

if you fish offshore these are a must. They are strong enough to cut 12 ot hooks . if you ever get a double rigged kingfish hooked in you you will want these or bolt cutters fast. they can be the life saving tool you need. never go offshore without them or bolt cutters unless your ok with a part of your body being turned into chopped meat. try to cut your hooks you fish with with a pair of pliers you use and see if they hold up or can do the job.

Are the 5" pliers sidecutters just as strong as the the larger 6.5" pliers? Can the 5" pliers also cut trebble hooks the same way as the larger ones? Thank you!
1 Answer
The 6.5" will be slightly stronger than the 5" because of the spring. The 5" will still be able to handle cutting treble hooks, just slightly smaller than ones the 6.5" can handle.
