Owner Long Shank Hooks are ideal for rigging ballyhoo when trolling for billfish, tuna, wahoo, dolphinfish, and king mackerel. No more missed hooksets due to short strikes. The long shank also offers added protection when presenting baits to toothy critters like bluefish. Owner Long Shank Hooks feature an extra-long, forged, XXX-strong shank, Super Needle Point, and corrosion-resistant black chrome finish.

Great hooks for many Ballyhoo rigging options. One recommendation is to order both 7/0 and 9/0 to cover all sizing options.

Practical help with "short strikes"
March 12, 2015
I began using these Owner long shank hooks a couple of years ago to help reduce the number of short strikes we were getting from wahoo and dolphin. They work. I attribute our higher hook up rate to that little extra length on the hook shank. I'm also a fan of Owner hook generally. They are extremely sharp and made well. They also solved a problem I had been having with some Mustad hooks with flawed eyes that left gaps that allowed wire leaders to slip out at awkward times.
ProsSharp, strong, long, well made
ConsLonger shanks are a little more difficult to place properly in ballyhoo, but that's a minor issue that is overcome with experience and patience.

is the hook to replace the long shank hook in a Cedar Plug which has a narrow flat eye?

Depending on the size hook you want I would recommend one of the VMC inline hooks. Here is the link: https://www.tackledirect.com/vmc-ils-inline-single-hooks.html
