The Tournament Mutu Circle Hook was designed to meet accepted billfish “tournament” specifications with its in-line, non-offset hook point that is angled 90° to the XX-strong shank. A versatile hook for presenting larger baits to big gamefish, and ideal for catch-and-release fishing. Features included a forged “hangnail” point and a corrosion-resistant black chrome finish.

Quality hooks

Strong, sharp, durable. I usually get sizes 1 through 3/0 for inshore and surf fishing and these have never let me down. Only time I had one even slightly bend was on a ray in the 100-120lb range, impressive to me bc I landed him and bc of how much pressure I was putting on my gear.

Went down to Islamorada to catch tarpon. Caught three tarpon, two were well over 125lbs. One was 80-100lbs. No bend in the hook. Caught two five foot bull sharks neither of those were even close to bending this beast of a hook! Great price for a fishing machine!

Great Hooks
November 26, 2020
Owner Tournament Mutu Light Circle Hooks are a super high quality, very sharp point, in-line/non-offset circle hook. I use the smaller 1 and 1/0 hooks for porgy or sheepshead. Use 2/0 - 4/0 hooks for fluke, tautog, Black Sea Bass, and Stripers. Use 5/0, 6/0 hooks for Striper and bluefish; however, I also use medium gauge hooks when I use hooks larger than 5/0. Owner hooks are great and I highly recommend .... 99.9% of hook ups in the corner of the mouth!!!!!!
Pros
  • Light weight, strong, sharp point, non-offset and hooks almost every fish in corner of mouth. Highly recommend!!!!
Cons
  • Hooks are light but very strong... that said, you may want to switch to a medium gauge when targeting larger fish and using hooks 6/0 or larger.

Sharp and strong

Very sharp hooks.
Do note that these run a bit smaller than comparable sized octopus inline hooks. The 9/0 mutu is closer in size to an 8/0 octopus circle. The 7/0's are about the same size as a 6/0 octopus circle.
These are light wire, but honestly I wish they were a little lighter wire. They are not very thin and should hold up to decent fish.

Good Inline Circle
September 22, 2020
These are good hooks. The wire is not as light as I was expecting it to be, but still slightly lighter than a normal circle hook.
The sizing of these is slightly smaller than the traditional octopus circles. The 7/0 light mutu is about the same size as a 6/0 gami octopus circle. The 9/0 is somewhere between a 7/0 and 8/0 gami octopus circle.

If you're hesitant about the "light" rating, I'd say that these hooks can definitely handle 40''+ striped bass.

Strong and sharp. Bit more pricey than the competition but maybe that's worth it.
