I have used the Battle 3 for about a month. Went fishing for Sea Bass and Scup. Smooth and capable. This will be my new Tautog reel with a Lami rod. Preordered so I had to wait but once it was in stock they shipped it in two days.

Nothing feels new. Same as my battle 2 4000. I know its a cnc gears and will last longer, but my battle 2 still alive after so many sea water dip just di the regular maintenance.

Own the previous generation and they’re solid reels but when I saw the third generation I had to snag one. Reminds me of the first generation of the clash and for 100 bucks it’s a must have for your inshore set-ups.
ProsNew main gear material is a vast improvement.

The upgraded gears was the huge selling point for me. Penn really delivered for the affordable Battle series. Bought the 6000HS. Slapped it on a ODM Jigster. Casted amazing and retrieved effortless. Time will tell how it will hold up. Enjoying it for now!
