depth hunter 50lbs
December 29, 2019
I'm a big fan of metered braid. This brand - the colors seem to hold well and haven't faded much. I've got 3-4 seasons on depth hunter. It's a 4 carrier braid - strong as hell...but will make some noise on the guides if a fish is pulling out drag. not a big deal to me. I tie a bimini twist - and use home made wind-on leaders with this line. seems to work well for me.
Proscolors don't wash out
Cons4 carrier braid. i'd rather it be an 8 carrier. not a big deal to me though.

This line is great for people who need to be at a certain depth. Instead of guessing what 70ft is now I can just count the colors!
ProsCost colors are easy to see

Colored Braid
April 28, 2018
I target a lot of Trigger Fish offshore. I depth hunt until I find where they are suspended.
I can drop another bait to the same depth where I caught one using the colors. This technique works!! My record for one day was 27 to the boat.

June 2, 2015
I love this line! I fish a lot of wrecks and artificial reefs and this line allows me to get on top of the reef without dropping into it
ProsStrong with good coloration.
ConsWould like it to be marked every two feet instead of 5

Power Pro is the way to go!
May 11, 2015
Line works well, it fades a little after much use but colors are still visible. My buddy Dangles uses regular line and with this line I usually have an advantage and catch more fish because I find it easier to find the depth where the fish are. Power pro is the way to go if you want that advantage.

Dial the Depth
October 25, 2014
I am using this line for bottom fishing off Port Canaveral Florida.
The Vermillion snappers and the triggerfish suspend off the bottom at different depths.
After getting the first one, I can duplicate the depth by using the colors and the tick mark.
They call me the "Trigger Man" because I "Dial Em In" using the colors". This keeps me away from the small sea bass and grunts.
I have caught a few kings and Mangrove snappers using the same techniques.

Good for trolling?
1 Answer
Hello Russell,

Yes, depth hunter is a perfect line for trolling given it's color changing feature to help keep track of how much line you have let out when setting your spread.
