Powerhouse with Smooth Drag
August 19, 2019
I purchased a Cabo PTS60 for tarpon and heavy structure pier/dock fishing and it worked so well that I decided to give the PTS 120 a try for offshore bottom fishing. It has become my favorite offshore reel and I own a much more expensive conventional Accurate Daughntless 600 as well, but the stopping power and speed of retrieve with the Cabo 120 is unmatched. I highly recommend this reel.
ProsPowerful drag and fast retrieve
ConsIt's heavy

We use these for pier fishing all the time.

y buddy has three of them, and seeing as how i do most of my fishing from off a boat, and how if i buy another reel my girlfriend might disown me, i use his every once in a while. I have a couple of Penn spinners, but it disappoints me to say the Penns take a lot of maintenance. I have used both his cheaper model from a different store more tuned to freshwater and they have worked great.

Good reel

The Cabo is a good reel with a crazy amount of drag . The reel is relatively smooth and can hold a ton of line and the handle is really ergonomic.
ProsA lot of drag, good line capacity, relatively smooth
ConsNo place on the spool to wrap your line around. The anti reverse isn't the best.

line capacity and drag, Great! Only gripe and its a big one for me is that the bail wire radius is so big that the bail whacks my knuckles as I retrieve. It goes du du du du du du du du du du across my fingers. I have never had a reel do this. it sucks I have to grip the rod further back behind the handle. very unnatural feeling

Great real except for weak drag springs

I have had 2 of these reels and both have snapped the drag springs ( the part that makes the clicking noise). I purchased 3 springs from quantum and have already used 2. Besides that the reel is very smooth and easy to handle
ProsLight weight smooth Looks sharp
Consbad drag springs and components

Only a 4 star because I haven't tested it yet. As smooth as all the others in Cabo series I am sure it will work out as well. It is heavy and so far it doesn't balance as well on the rods I planned on using but it wasn't bought for all day casting so it should be fine. If you can find a nicer reel for the money or the job, buy it but I thiink you'll be searching for a long time.
ProsGreat value. Solid reel
ConsWish they made a surf series in this size

This is a very powerful and smooth reel. I did have a problem with anti reverse but quantum was very good about repairs. I do like this reel a lot and I highly recommend it!
