Shimano Butterfly Flatside Jigs feature an innovative design that gives them the best perform when angle-vertical jigging from a drifting boat. The rear/center weight balance design of the Shimano Butterfly Flatside Jig lets it fall to the bottom quickly with a swinging motion. The off-set eyeball position allows the use of two different hooks for an overall better hooking ratio.

Great Jigs

I love these jigs for tuna in the northeast and I also bring them down to Costa Rica and use them for snapper, roostefish, bonita, and tuna. They are great jigs and the heavier bottom helps get the jig down to the bottom faster which increases the number of drops you can make and the number of fish you catch. i do prefer to add a second assist hook to this jig.
ProsGreatly balanced for a faster drop and long lasting color. I also like the solid silver side which adds some extra flash
Consonly one assist hook

140gr butterfly jigs
February 7, 2020
I've got a variety of colors and sizes with these jibs. My suggestion is get them in pink, blue, brown color - 112gr-268gr to cover the different size baitfish or depths/current you fish.
ProsThey work well for numerous types of fish.
ConsThey get damaged from toothy fish crushing these baits.

168gr Jigs

I use these vertical jigs for cod/haddock and tuna fishing in the north east US. Pink seems to be a good color....and i've had some good success with these things. Make sure you pair with the proper reel - something that'll take up a lot of line.
ProsCatches many different types of fish.
ConsI wish they were more durable and came in a glow in the dark color.

Quality Jig!
January 30, 2020
These jigs are excellent. Fish smash them and the color and eyes hold up great. Typical Shimano quality. Good quality hooks too, but i always change mine out on any jig for some high quality Owners.
ProsQuality craftsmanship, color and yers hold up well. Hooks are good but i suggest replacing with better ones.
ConsHurst when you break one off. Pricy!

I've used the pink fishing the north east US atlantic ocean for fishing for tuna and cod. These jigs do catch fish - and work well. I like using these with the quick rig welded ring swivels. Only issue is the finish is not really that durable.
Proswork well.
Consthe painted finish is not that durable

The flashiness when it flutters down gets the fishes attention then once you start pumping that jig back up it entices them! Love these for tuna mahi and cobia
