A system used for easy and fast one-handed casting. The line and trigger self-center, and are within easy grasp of the angler’s index finger. By pulling the line and the trigger with one hand, the bail opens and is ready to be cast.

Best bang for the buck

This inexpensive reel works very well. Its mostly plastic, but is well engineered to perform like a shimano should. I chose this product because of the name and price. I am not disappointed and would recommend this to any one looking to save a little money. Very happy with my purchase.
ProsLight weight yet solid. Inexpensive reel made by a quality manufacturer.
ConsMostly plastic not very attractive.

Classic Reel
May 3, 2018
This classic Shimano Reel is a durable die hard. I have used it for carp fishing and caught carp up to 15 pounds. The drag works great. The quick shoot trigger is a nice feature also. The line capacity is more than generous . I use mine on a European style 12 foot Avon float/match rod for my carp fishing and it balances out nicely. For the price this reel will last a long time.
ProsGreat drag and smooth operations with a classic old school look

IS 2000 MODEL ideal for freshwater (bass/stripper) and can i use the 4000 for saltwater for smaller fish?
2 Answers
We recommend the 2000 is more ideal for freshwater. The 4000 size reel will work for saltwater, small striped bass, back bay fishing, etc.

Can I add 20lb braid on the ix4000r and does it does it do good with 25 inch redfish?
1 Answers
You should be able to get right around 300 yards of 20# braid on the reel. The 4000 size would be suitable for redfish of that size.

Does the Shimano IX R Spinning Reel come with a spare spool? If not, can a spare spool be purchased with it, and how much?

The IX R reel does not come with a spare spool and we do not sell spare spools for that particular reel.

Hello Murman. The quick fire system centers the line to be easily grasped by the users index finger to allow for faster one handed casting. Please feel free to contact us if you have any other questions!
