The Prime Bucktail Jig is not like any other jig on the market. The unique shape of the head and placement of the eyelet help bring this lure to life. With bulging eyes, holographic finish, and blazing color, it puts fish at your mercy. The uniqueness of this bait is that it doesn't fall or hang straight down like other bucktails. It glides through the water, almost swimming along. When jigged, its body stays almost parallel to the bottom maintaining a very natural appearance. Like all SPRO products, Prime Bucktail Jigs are made with durable, super sharp Gamakatsu hooks. Once you fish it, you'll know why SPRO is the shape of things to come.
It's hard to fish the Prime Bucktail wrong. It can be jigged off the bottom for weakfish, fluke, or other saltwater fish. Cast it at schooling fish working it quickly back to the boat for cobia, stripers, snook, or dolphin. Swim it along in freshwater for big bass and walleyes, or troll it for reservoir stripers. It's hard to find somewhere that the Prime Bucktail won't work.

Durable and Reliable
December 12, 2021
This is the go to color to start just about every trip, between the combination white, chartreuse and glow you get the best of everything. Hooks are sharp and durable, heads hold up to getting bounced off rough bottom. There are cheaper bucktails out there, but when the trophy fluke bites your rig, why chance a lesser product?

Nice jig, good distance.

Nice jig. But I ended up losing it by getting it snagged up at the bottom of Lake Ponchatrain La. Hurrican Ida blowing all that debris around is probably to blame!

They are awesome and will catch a wide variety of salt water species. they cast very well and far due to the their weight balance.
  • they work. casts great!
  • if using in very rocky areas, the surface finish takes a bit of a bashing.

A must for fluke!
September 14, 2021
Well balanced. Stays horizontal when jigging for fluke. Presents a natural profile to trigger strikes. Hook is sharp and strong. Bucktail is durable. Have caught more than 50 flukes on a single jig with minimal lost of bucktail. 3/4 oz has perfect hook size for fluke when using gulp or any soft plastic. The keeper wire makes sure that ur plastic stays on catch after catch. Colors that are a must… Glow, white, chartreuse and pink.

What size and color spro would go with white and chartreuse 4” gulp swimming mullets in 2-15 feet of water with little current? Looking to catch the elusive flounder in a creek mouth/marina area near me,

For casting and vertical jigging on a medium power fast action penn squadron 3. It is rated 1/4-1 oz lure weight

1 Answer
When bucktailing for flounder, you want the lightest possible jig you can use while still holding bottom and fishing effectively. A good match with the 4" swimming mullet would be be any of the white or chartreuse colors in the 1/2oz. to 1oz. sizes.

White, Chartreuse, and Yellow are good colors for striped bass. White is the best.
