The ocean can be a cruel, unforgiving place. An environment where good looks earn you no favors. A place where any margin of error is latitude for failure. A place where on manyoccasions only a new Legend Salt offshore rod will survive. These premium-quality SCII graphite blanks are designed using St. Croix's proprietary IPC tooling technology and strengthened internally with ART. Each blank is also thermofused with our new NSi (Nano Silica) resin, formulated from a revolutionary new 3M Matrix Resin technology. In other words, we've loaded these bad boys with every ounce of technology at our rod building disposal before we finish them off with the best guides, reel seats and grips. In the end, you're looking at an offshore saltwater rod that devours anything else you'll find.

The mullet head Heaver
I desired this rod as a heaver for spider sinkers and baitfish heaved out into the Texas gulf coast, and am very well pleased running it with an Avet MX reel and 20# Prospec Mono. It exceeded my expectations on quality, and its performance so far has been ahead of my abilities to deploy it. It is also been a good surface iron to pitch trolley line out for slider line kingfishing off piers. Its a long heavy thing i discovered so I ended up getting a 10 foot surf rod and smaller Avet SX reel so i can prowl around the surf and Jettys while this setup soaks bait.
ProsWell made, priced well, casts well - better than I can so far. As usual, Tackle Direct fast reliable tracked and shipped, FAST, no BS service.
ConsIts a beast to transport even broken down since its about 7'9" on the long section. So far strapping it to rooftop racks or danglin' it off a pickup tailgate in a lumber store PVC sched. 40 "rod barn" is the way to go. Trying an experiment next to see if it will fit in a car by dropping the rear seat and stuffing a lot of the butt end in the trunk.

Nice surf rod
Everything flies with this rod. Kind of weird where it breaks down, not in half. More like 70/30. So the handle has no eyes on it. Think that's ok really, unless you're expecting to break it down to fit in a small car or trunk. It's also probably part of why they charge an extra fee for "oversized" packaging. The rod arrived in a very heavy cardboard tube that's too nice to just throw away. Rod is really a huckster, I'm throwing all my striper lures 15-20 yards further with this rod and a new Daiwa Coastal reel. Only complaint would be that for this price point, the rod should have a hook anchor on the butt end of the rod. Minor annoyance.

My favorite surf rod
I have a few St Croix legends and some nice rods but oddly this one is my new fav. I took it this weekend and threw 5oz and a chunk and it was just great! No I haven't caught a fish on it yet, but I'm pretty damn sure it will do perfect for a big red. I have used a heavier mojo and bought this one for a little more action during fish fighting. I feels like the perfect middle of the road rod. I really expected these to not be as good since they made in MX and not the USA like other rods, but for $250 which ain't cheap, the rod performed.

Good rod, seems to be strong and made well. Love St Croix for giving good price option rods. THis one is not cheap, but better then most and not as much $ as going custom or ledgend series.
ProsMojo rods are good/better then most for the $$

Very Happy With MOJO SURF
I'm very happy with this product. I haven't landed any big fish with it yet, but I know it will perform well. I love casting 3-4 ounce metals with this rod!
ProsVery Light Weight!

New York City angler with a MOJO
Light weight rod that you can jig all day with or cast out chunk bait a mile towards that honey hole. Good action and sensitive tip.
Consno rubber on the end of the handle.

Love these rods
I have 2 of the St Croix MSC120HMF2 Mojo Surf Casting Rods, I throw anywere from 6n normal chunk bait to 8 n heavy bait (full 12 inch fish), this rod really performs. I have both paired with Avet SX reels - I use heavier reels for bigger bait, up to Avet LX size with no issues.
ProsBackbone, off the shelf rods I have used without going custom, great customer service from Tackle Direct and St Croix
