Great trout rod

I like the reel seat style where you can completely feel the blank for the lightest bite. The 6UL is my favorite when it comes to wading

Well made, but a little too light for my applications
November 30, 2014
The rod is well made and super light. I casts like a dream, but the action is not fast enough and does not have enough backbone for may application. I use it for trout fishing in western North Carolina streams using artificial lures and it is sometimes hard to detect a strike, especially in swifter waters.
ProsWell built, super light and affordable. Casts accurately.
ConsA little hard to detect due to it not having fast enough action.

My question is! Can I use a 1/8 oz lure on the 6ft ultra lite rod I just bought from st croix? The rod has 2-6lb limit yet states 1/32-3/16 oz lure weight. Is this a recommendation on lure weight or am I not able to use a 1/8th oz lure on this rod? If not then that is very disappointing not to have this rod in lite action! Thank yo

The lure weight of 1/32oz - 3/16oz is the range of lures the rod can cast effectively. 1/8oz will not be a problem at all, falls right in line with what St. Croix rates the rod at.
