These Rods are designed for both beginners and seasoned anglers. While these types of rods were originally designed for vertical jigging they are now used for many diffrerent jigging applications as well as bottom and drift fishing. Their short length and power also makes them ideal for kayak fishing. Components include Fuji guides and high quality graphite rod blanks. Designed and tested with Star's 50+ years of experience, we feel that these rods are the best value in their class.

Right choice - great Jigging rod
I was looking for a good set-up to fish Porgies and Sea Bass for our annual six-pack. Did some research on a good rod and reel, I liked this rod with the Okumo azures 65S as a combo. It did not disappoint me. The rod action was good and heavy enough for bigger fish, the reel was super smooth and comfortable, great set-up for the price. This rod and reel is perfect for jigging.

Star rods Rock!
I'm 75% complete on rod change out. And Star Rods are my new goto's.. Not one has failed, and I love these jigging rods for everyday use. Flounder, striper, sea bass, weakies, they tackle them all if you know how to load them up. Few canyon runs and the larger ones tackle 50-100# tuna no problem.
Prosgreat feel, small diameter for # rating.
ConsSingle color available.

Love Star Rods
I had a lighter star rod paired up with a Avet feel for jigging, worked good but had a lot of bend. Bought this rod as a replacement because it was stiffer. I use the pairing to vertical jig for grouper, scamp, snapper, etc.. This combo is great. I pulled up 15-20 grouper with no issue and two nice scamp from 200+ feet. Also a couple big snapper we had to throw back (since they are endangered and elusive) 👎. Great replacement and pairing.
ProsStiffness Lightweight Plays well with the Avet

Great Jigging Rod
Short and compact, just what I like on my boat. This rod packs plenty of power to muscle fish around. I used as soon as I got it for some early season Striper fishing. Chucking bunker with 5 oz weight was no problem. Only 1 fish but it was easily handled. Has a good balance mated with AVET MXL reel.

Great for the money!
Bought this rod to go with a new reel for bottom fishing/jigging. The rod has some serious backbone and looks great! For the price and quality i highly recommend it!

Do away with the hook keeper!
Liked the action plenty of backbone and very sensitive when hooked up no problem controlling the fish the. The only problem I had with the rod was with the hook keeper when casting or paying out line it would get caught. To fix the I it off at the blank and filed it down now I think I have the perfect jigging rod.
ProsControl and sensitivity
ConsHook keeper to large not in right place.

Is this rod too heavy for fluke fishing with a 3/4 ounce bucktail? I am looking for a short rod to fish from my jet ski
1 Answers
Yes, all of these models would be way too heavy for lures of that size. You will want to find an inshore rod that lists a lure rating that includes lures in the 3/4 oz range.

Hey guys I have a question. Can this rod handle a shark from land? I want to pair this rod with a spinfisher v 10500 I see it can handle line anywhere from 50-200lb braid but will it handle 6-7 foot shark on sand? I have a boat also so I'm looking for a hybrid rod that I can carry it's own weight from A peer, sand, and Boat for BIG game mostly peer fishing (kayaking bait out)

I would recommend the XH models of the Star Aerial Jigging Rods for landing big sharks from land.

TRICKING TRIGGERFISH
Mon, 23 Jul 2018
In the past decade, Jersey's wrecks and reefs have begun to colonize with summer visitors in the form of gray triggerfish. Previously known as a relative bycatch on the structure piles, triggers are now carpeting inshore wrecks and reefs, sometimes by the hundreds.... Read More
