Our new Fast Taper Stellar Light rods are designed for the increased popularity of casting light plastic baits with or without jig heads. They are also great for casting light lures and bucktails when a fast, long cast is desired. We use Fuji Concept guides which are a perfect match for these actions. These actions also work well for kayak fishing where casting without shifting body weight is important. There are 9 models with regular style butt and foregrips and 5 models with the new style split butt grips. For any type of inshore fishing there is a Stellar Light rod for you.

An $8.00 oversize packaging charge applies to this item as it ships in a long heavy duty tube to protect your items. This fee will still apply when discount shipping coupons are used.

Like the feel of this rod - only one issue

Like the feel of the rod for inshore fishing. Works well for my kayak fishing as well. Only problem is that the part that holds my reel continues to loosen and needs to be re-tightened. May need to put something on that to keep it tight.
ProsLight weight. Good length for kayak fishing. Like fast taper.
ConsReel seat constantly becomes loose when using. Needs to be tightened often.

Best rod available in price range.

Star rods are all reliable and sturdy. There is no better value in a rod company. In the $100-300 price range, I would not suggest straying far! I combine the 7'6" Stellar Lite Fast Taper rod with a Stradic FK 3000 for a killer inshore combo. 10lb Power Pro with 30lb mono liter and you'll be killing reds, snook, mangrove snapper, and all your favorite species in no time!

Awesome Rod

This rod is great! the sensitivity is good and you can cast very far. It still has enough back bone for jigging which I like and do the most of but crack baits work well also. This is by far my favorite rod in my arsenal.

Great Rod
October 26, 2013
I've had this rod for quite a while now and have had absolutely no problems with it. Everything seems to be built very well with quality components. As long as you use the correct line and lure size the rod is rated for it works very well. I primarily use it for crank and jerk baits because the rod tip is too flexible for certain jigs; however, it does work well with a 1/4 oz jig head with a gulp shrimp bouncing off the bottom.
ProsQuality, price, action, durability

This looks pretty perfect for throwing 1/2 to 3/4 oz jig heads and bucktails. Do you think it could do double duty also throwing smaller poppers and SPs in the back bay to our big NJ bluefish in the spring? Or is the medium power rod just better suited to fluke and schoolie bass? Thanks!

Usually a fast action tip is needed for top water lures, while this can handle it its not recommended.
