Well suited for inshore pursuits along any coastline, we designed the TackleDirect Silver Hook 2-Piece Spinning Rods for the ultimate combination of performance and convenience at a price that can't be beat. These rods are built on a high density graphite composition blank that provides an excellent balance of sensitivity and strength. Anglers will find the TDSS702M perfect for casting light jigs, soft plastics, and small hard baits in backwater environments, while the TDSS702MH is more ideal for fighting larger fish and casting heavier jigs, larger swimming plugs, and poppers. Both models feature a convenient 2-piece construction for easy storage. The included travel case keeps your rod protected when transporting your gear to the fishing grounds and is the perfect carry-on while traveling. Both models are equipped with quality components including Fuji reel seats, Fuji O Series guides, and grade A cork handles.

To whom it may concern, I bought this pole for my son who while in GA fishes fresh water do he needed a smaller stick. So I purchased two of them one for him and one for myself. And the case is great, I take care of my things so the case will stay clean, However he’s rough with his toys so the case will be great for him.
Pros
  • Two piece, great case.
Cons
  • None so far.

Two Piece medium action spinning rod with the sensitivity and backbone for inshore action
January 25, 2022
I'm generally not a fan of 2 piece fishing rods, but having a general purpose outfit on hand for travel is a must for all dedicated recreational fishers. I mostly fish in estuaries or inshore along the east coast and Gulf of Mexico. The Silver Hook 2 piece spinner from Tackle Direct hits all the marks for a medium action spinning rod. The taper and composite construction at 7' allows for the sensitivity to detect even the bit of a sheepshead while providing the backbone to handle a drag-burning king mackerel. The guide number and spacing allow for a smooth arch and the reel handle's cork materials make for a slip-resistant and durable grip. Paired my rods with Shimano Stradic 4000's and I now have the perfect traveling general use combination.
Pros
  • -Solid construction and quality materials
  • -Backbone to handle bigger fish
  • -Tip sensitivity
  • -Ease of packing for travel
Cons
  • -2-Peice construction

Marty
from Boston, MA asked:
January 25, 2022
I surf or jetty cast In Mass and NJ for blues and stripers.   My rods are longer and heavier than this.  However, I also fish at Manaquam inlet so I thought this would be a nice rod for that.  Can this stand up to stripers and bigger blues?  that reel should I think about?
1 Answer
Hi Marty, The TackleDirect Silver Hook 2-Piece Spinning Rod is going to be a little light for the application you need it for. Instead I would recommend a TackleDirect TDSBS701MH Silver Hook Series Boat Spinning Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/tackledirect-tdsbs701mh-custom-saltwater-boat-spinning-rod.html This is a MH action but also is able to cast lures between 1oz - 5oz and would be a great rod for fishing for striped bass and bluefish off the jetties. I would pair this up with a Penn BTLIII5000 Battle III Spinning Reel. https://www.tackledirect.com/penn-btliii5000-battle-iii-spinning-reel.html This would pair well with the TDSBS701MH rod and be a ideal setup for fishing for striped bass and bluefish. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

William Koss
from Oregon asked:
December 15, 2021
Is the rod suitable  for surf perch and jetty fishing in the pacific northwest?
1 Answer
Hi William, You could use the TackleDirect Silver Hook 2-Piece Spinning Rods for surf perch but its not ideal for that kind of fishing. I would recommend a Tsunami TSTIISS-902MH Trophy II Surf Spinning Rod. Specifically Model: TSTIISS-902MH; TD Code: TSU-0284. https://www.tackledirect.com/tsunami-tstiiss-902mh-trophy-ii-surf-spinning-rod.html This rod is longer and can hold more weight allowing you to cast baits further needed for Surf Perch. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

June 8, 2021
I got the Medium heavy action of this rod recently

and was looking for a reel to go along with it.  I was

looking to do snook fishing in the south and fluke fishing

up north.  Is there any reel in the size 3000 or 4000 that is

80 dollars or under that would work well?

1 Answer
The Shimano Sedona FI Spinning Reel is a good match,  either the 3000 or 4000 model will work great.
