Multi fish rod
October 29, 2020
I purchased 2 of these rods and outfitted wove Alet sx reels. I fish salt water out of a boat in the Cape Cod area. We caught Back Sea Bass, Fluke, Scup, Tautog, and some blue fish. I have many rod setups but love fishing this light weight with some back bone. Great for the money.

Worth it for the $

Oversized packaging worth it, I have saved the tube for moving and travel.

I have pulled 4'-5' sharks on this medium heavy rod, and 20" - 30" snook, both are just as fun!

OK but not Medium Heavy

Good quality but these should be rated medium and not medium heavy. I would get these again and just go up one level

Best bang for the buck
July 17, 2019
I’ve tried just about all. These rods are amazing for the price! This spinning rod is still going strong after 4 years and handling everything from 1/2 lb scup to full day assault of 30 lb Stripers. Most underrated rod manufacturer out there. Happy I tried it, now commited!

7 foot 3/4-1 1/2 ounce rated rod

for $50 this is the best options out there. great for inshore, out front jigging. haven't owned this long so i've only got to target flounder with it, but i've had as much as 3oz bucktails with a teaser on here and it performed very well. paired this with a shimano sedona and made a quality rig for just over $100. very happy

The rod rating of medium heavy action is off at best it is a medium action
  • I'll find a purpose for the rod or give it away.
  • It is not what I thought I was ordering.

Excellent Rod For Price
February 15, 2019
This is an excellent rod for the price. I own the casting version and bought two spinning rods for my kids. You can't beat the quality for the price. We use them to fish fluke, stripers, blue fish, tog, trash fish and anything that bites.

TSCS 701MH - Could you make a few reel suggestions for this rod? Use will be light jigging in the back bays for striper, specks, etc.

1 Answer
The 4000 Shimano Nasci would pair well with this particular rod.

Can the 7' heavy version of this rod handle 3 oz bucktails for fluke jigging?
1 Answer
3 oz's are a little past the recommended specs of the rod the rod wouldn't perform how its designed to with that much weight.

Would the 7 ft  2 piece MH rod be good for pier jigging a 1 oz. Gotcha plug for blues and sea trout with a 3000 penn fierce reel, and how much does this rod weight
1 Answer
Yes, that rod would match up with the Fierce 3000. Although, a 4000 size reel may match up better. The weight of this rod is listed as 5.4 oz.

What size Penn Spinfisher VI reel would be best to use on the Tsunami Classic TSCS 701MH rod?  Thanks.
1 Answer
We would recommend the 3500, but if you would like more line capacity depending on your application you could jump up to the 4500. Similar sized reel with a deeper spool.

The pic shows this as a 2 piece rod is this correct? I have 4 tsunami classics and they are all 1 piece. Looking to replace them.
1 Answer
For the Tsunami Classic Spinning Rods, one of the 7' Medium Heavy Rods is a two-piece. All other models of this rod that we carry are one piece.

Could you recommend a couple rods that would be good for party boat fishing?I normally use 3oz but depending on the drift could be lighter or heavier,I could really use some advice.
1 Answer
What kind of fishing will you be doing? That will help us recommend what will be best for your application and what reel you will be using will help as well. If you will be dropping 3 oz + the Tsunami Classic rods will not be the best, the heaviest lead they can handle is 1.5 oz's, that is the 7' Heavy model.

can you recommend the tsuanmi classic ml version 7' spinning version for jigging bucktail in the bays of NJ. I would typically like to bucktail with 1/ 1/2 ounce or less but occasionaly need to go higher because of the drift. i also would need to go higher some times if just dropping the line with a sinker (up to say 3 oz). i'm concerned getting too heavy a pole will limit enjoyment/ feel. will be mostly trying to get flounder.
1 Answer
If you are interested in the Tsunami classic rods, the rod that would work best for you is the model TSCS 701MH, becau8se it can throw up to 1 oz, but no heavier. All of the other models can not throw 1 oz or more. If you are looking for a good rod that can throw heavier bucktails, the St. Croix VIS70HF Avid Inshore Spinning Rod is a great choice and can throw up to 2 oz. For a rod to throw up to 3 oz or more you will need to go with a heavier power rod, there are many 6'6 or 6' rods that will work perfect. The G. Loomis Pro-Blue Saltwater Series Rods are a great set of rods used often for flounder fishing.

My family recently received a few FIN-NOR MegaLite MLS 40 Spinning Reels for Christmas. Now we need rods to compliment these light weight reels. We fish primarily brackish to saltwater water and like to fish for a variety and size species ranging from small Mangrove Snapper to large Snook and Tarpon. We usually use live shrimp and sometimes artificial lures. I noticed that the rods have a lb. test rating for mono, but, not for braid. My question is which model would be good for our fishing purposes or do you have another recommendation and what our your thoughts on the braid rating?
1 Answer
The Tsunami TSCS 701MH Classic Spinning Rod would go great with the Fin Nor 40 Mega Lite with 30 lb power pro. This combo would be a very versatile for your fishing needs. It will be able to to throw lures and bait. Thank you for considering TackleDirect for your fishing needs.

Hi, I am looking to purchase a couple rods of this brand. Please, let me know your thoughts: 6.6 ft Medium Fast for squidding 7 ft Medium Heavy seabass, flounder, mackerel. For this type I prefer the 8ft rod, but I notice you don't carry. Is it possible you can order it if it fits my application. Your suggestion is appreciated! -Thank you
1 Answer
The 6'6 MF will be good for squidding and the 7ft Mh will be suitable for the fish your targeting. Unfortunately we do not carry 8ft in this particular rod.
