701H is good..... but be careful with the 701XH
September 3, 2019
I bought both versions of these rods. Very light so it will not put a strain on your arm. The 701H was purchased specifically for jigging lighter bucktails, and works very well. I mainly utilize this on my kayak in shallow water up to around 20ft

However, the 701XH was purchased for heavier bucktails or chicken rig setups. Took it out the other day and while trying to break off from a snag, the rod snapped in half. Very disappointing to say the least
ProsI'm giving this 3 stars specifically for the 701H. Light, yet powerful, and cost effective. You won't find a better priced rod for handling lighter bucktails (2-3 oz)
ConsQuality of the 701XH is something to be desired. Could've just been a bad blank..... but I dunno. Shouldn't just break like that on a snag when trying to free it

Excellent rod
September 26, 2018
I bought this to use with the Quantum Accurist baitcaster John Skinner recommended. This is an affordable rod that has a nice touch and can handle decent size fish. I fish inshore from a kayak and am very very happy with this rod. I don't think you can go wrong choosing this rod for yuor baitcaster.

best rod brand out there for the price
July 17, 2018
They are literally manufactured around the corner from where i live ( less than 5 miles) in Mahwah NJ and are truly fantastic. I would recommend this company to anyone, plain and simple. This is my current pole from bottom fishing to Mahi Mahi and even smaller sharks. I even caught a 300+lb shark on my tsunami reel rated for 40 lb and my tsunami pole rated for 80-100 pound line in a chum slick 10 ft from the boat and wrenched him in. My father went out and bought a $300 custom rod years back for it's lightness and sensitivity, but when i handed him my rod to hold so i could get a sandwich, he he wouldn't give it back and went out and bought one of these. The thing is so sensitive you can literally feel the types of ocean floor terrain you are on, and distinguish bites from that, and also it is light as a feather.
ProsWell worth the money. Very sensitive. Light as a feather. Strong poles. Very good looking.
ConsAbsolutely none. Best rod i have ever used, and i have used a lot!

i use this rod for flounder and scup mostly and its the only rod i will go to for those species
it holds up well and give just the action im looking for when buck-tailing for founder/fluke
i especially like the longer handle behind the reel seat for one arm hook sets, really cant beat the quality of this rod for the price, highly recommend

XXH or XH for bottom wreck fishing and blackfish?
1 Answer
wreck fishing with heavier weights and possible strong currents the xxh would be the best choice.
