A DAY WITH SAM MILAZZO

Rich Tudor and Tom Rowland hand the captaincy over to Tudor's friend Sam Milazzo for this episode of Saltwater Experience. Sam Milazzo has been a professional tournament angler, private charter boat captain and fine artist for more than 20 years. And having lived and fished in the Florida Keys all his life, he knows them inside and out. Among other achievements, he was captain of the boat that shattered the record for most sailfish caught in a day.

Starting from the Hawks Cay Resort, this fishing trio heads to the Middle Florida Keys in search of those sailfish along with offshore dolphins, tuna and yellowtail snappers. Milazzo's knowledge drives the expedition at every turn. For example, early in the episode, he knows tuna are drawn to a place called The Hump, and he points out they'll need to make a "popcorn trail" of live bait to lure them closer to the boat. Milazzo also is willing to do the grunt work, cleaning his own boat and performing other hidden tasks needed for a successful outing.
