The first version of this lure became popular in the Cape during the early 80's. This little neck popper lure slips through the wind for very long casts. It is legendary lure for producing cows when sandeels and thin baits are present.

Super Strike
November 24, 2016
There are many things I want to appraise about this lure. First, it's made by super strike, which means that it's plastic and comes with great hardware. Which in turn, I can absolutely depend on them. Second, the thing casts a mile. Third, you can also work the lure like a metal lip with a slow retrieve. Half my surf bag is filled with these poppers.
Pros
  • Plastic, great hardware, casts a mile, great swimming and popping action.
Cons
  • Super Strike don't manufacture these lures in abundance (they actually do, but sells out so quickly), and so you have to wait until early next year for a new batch. Not only that, you have to buy them in bulk and will get pricey.

Catches Fish

When there’s surface bit conditions, this will catch them. Casts like a bullet, including the smallest size. Has a great action that predator fish go after more than other poppers I have. Very durable, and fitted out with good hardware. Fairly priced for proven results.

A must have for surf fishing. Casts effortlessly to reach fish and great in windy situations. High quality hooks and swivels for big fish. I have the poppers and darters all high quality with great action. Expensive lures but worth it and not all tackle shops carry this brand at this price point.

Great for surf blues and bass
October 20, 2021
Great plug from the surf. I do replace the tail hook with a large single to help with a quicker release. Casts well and very durable to hold up to blues. Prefer the sinking models, nice action and when the birds start hovering I can let sink til they loose interest. Have picked up fish on the drop as well.

what is the best color for stripers to try imitate menhaden. Question #2, does it matter what color I use?
1 Answer
Color does matter it depends on the time of day, water clarity, sunny or cloudy. Bone, green and yellow are the top three colors for all conditions.

How would a ODM 11 ft. rod 2-6 oz. pair up with a Penn slammer 5500 reel for the cape code canal
1 Answer
The slammer 5500 would pair up with the 11 foot odm surf rod, you can even go the next size up on the slammer and the combo would still balance out

Which one casts better? Sinking or floating? Are they made to cast far? I have a yo zuri popper that floats but has a centrifugal weight to aide in casting. Are these poppers the same?

Thanks

1 Answer
Hi Sean, Depending on the conditions, The Super Strike Little Neck Popper in Sinking models would be the best casting lures in many conditions for both windy and non windy days. The Super Strike Little neck poppers are internally weighed and thru wired for optimal casting distance and cast differently than most poppers. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

So the title is little neck popper, and the main image is for that...But the other photos are of the needle lure that Super Strike carries. just wanna make sure its the popper.
1 Answer
Hello Michael! It is indeed the popper. The photos of the needle show the same colors that the popper is available in. This is why it is laid out that way. If you have any more questions please feel free to contact us!
