The first version of this lure became popular in the Cape during the early 80's. This little neck popper lure slips through the wind for very long casts. It is legendary lure for producing cows when sandeels and thin baits are present.

Super Strike
There are many things I want to appraise about this lure. First, it's made by super strike, which means that it's plastic and comes with great hardware. Which in turn, I can absolutely depend on them. Second, the thing casts a mile. Third, you can also work the lure like a metal lip with a slow retrieve. Half my surf bag is filled with these poppers.
ProsPlastic, great hardware, casts a mile, great swimming and popping action.
ConsSuper Strike don't manufacture these lures in abundance (they actually do, but sells out so quickly), and so you have to wait until early next year for a new batch. Not only that, you have to buy them in bulk and will get pricey.

Floating version not as good as Tactical Angler popper
I really like the sinking version of this plug but the floating version is only ok. Tactical Angler makes a floating popper that is great. It casts better than this Super Strike and pops very easily.

Great poppers
I really like these poppers. They cast great, are durable and, because the are made of plastic, don't get water-logged. You can also retrieve the sinking ones slowly and it will swim sort of like a metal lip although it casts much better than any metal lip.

Worth the money
Pricey but excellent quality lures, durable, come with very nice hardware, and are not easy to lose. These lures are expensive, but not one of those lures that get snagged/lost often. Nice action, extremely good-casting lures. These lures have been proven time and time again to be effective.

Awesome Top Water Lure
The Super Strike Little Neck Popper Floating Lure is one of my go to lures when fishing in the day time especially when bait fish are being harassed by blues and bass. I prefer the floating style SS popper to the sinking due to the buoyancy and ability to let it sit on the surface briefly after "popping" it. It's a little easier to work in my opinion then the sinking SS popper but doesn't swim or sink. Caught several bass with this lure in both the 5-1/4" and 6" models. Super Strike makes some of the best quality lures that I've had the opportunity to use and are very durable holding up nicely when being chewed up by blues or banging off jetty rocks.
ProsExcellent top water lure Durable One of the best casting lures I own
ConsThe floating style lure does not sink or swim like the sinking Super Strike model.

Fish Producer
The other reviewers said it all! Super versatile and catches fish - learn its nuances and try fishing it different ways.
ProsCasting Super Versatile - slow, steady chugging / popping. Ripping it for blues. Slow straight retrieve to get a metal lip like roll / wobble (sinking models only) Wide range of weights / sizes - floating and sinking models All the fish-catching colors you need Strong hard-ware
ConsSometimes I like working and watching a pencil popper but that's my problem, not the lures

Super strike Little Neck popper, great popper, good for GT's and Omilu's
These lures are great for casting into the wind. in both the floating and sinking varieties they cast well. the finish is much more durable then other poppers. it also isn't super cupped, so it seems to spit water in a small/subtle way that gets fish who may have seen a lot of big poppers. caught a nice variety of smaller GT's and blue fin Trevally with these guys. The white/blue is a good color combo for reef fishing. have also used them with decent luck on east coast stripers, in the schoolie size frame.
Prospaint seems to be more durable then some surface coats of other poppers.
ConsI switch out trebles for singles, on all lures.

It's a good popper
I really like this popper. The larger one is heavy and casts a mile. Just make sure that your knots and connections are good and you won't watch it fly off to Nova Scotia. I had success with this one in yellow while fishing the surf of northern NJ while fishing for blues/striped bass. I'm assuming it works for striped bass, if there are stripers in the mix. I didn't catch any, but neither did my buddy with the sluggos. Swim it. Pop it. Let it sit and then twitch it. It was so much fun watching blue fish whack this thing. It also held up pretty well to their teeth. At $18, it's a bit expensive (that's the going price) especially when there are other cheaper poppers.

Little Neck Popper - Floating
As always, great plug from super strike. Although this is a great plug, I like the versatility of the sinking version a little more. The sinking one can cast a long ways, pop, and swim if needed.

ConsNo real cons. It does as it says it will do. It's a floating popper.

Great casting classic
This is a must have for all surf casters. The weight distribution is such that it casts very well. You can use this as a popper as well as a swimming bait. 2 3/8 Sinking Popper
I was looking for a heavier sinker popper like Atoms Atomizer because their 2 1/4oz and 3oz versions float and don't dive subsurface after popping and Super Strike Little Neck Poppers more than fits the bill. It has strong hooks and split rings, casts very well and has great action. I like to work the lure slowly and pop once in a while so it resembles a baitfish swimming and jumping on the surface. Definitely a great lure and a must have as subsurface popper.

Casts like a missle!
Super Strike Little Neck Poppers are the best poppers on the market in my opinion. They cast like a missle and are extremely versatile. The sinking versions can not only be worked on top like a conventional popper, but can be used subsurface as well. All you have to do is let it sink for a second or two and start a slow retrieve. Doing this keeps it just below the surface and allows the popper to wiggle back and forth in a very subtle way like a swimming plug. Try it, you will not be sorry! Love Super Strike Poppers!
