Fakes saltist levelwind line counter size 30
The body is very well made and is a dream to operate. The line counter is a little funny. Have been meaning to contact daiwa.on mine if you don't reset counter every time it counts wrong
ProsAlmost all metal and solid. Cranks like a dream. Drag star has slight locking mechanism
ConsCounter could be better

Is this reel suitable for lead core trolling? is the levelwind mouth wide enough for leadcore clearance? specifically an albright knot or a double uni knot between the leadcore and the backing?
Yes since it can handle line the diameter of 50lb mono no problem you can. As long as you don't tie some huge knot which it doesn't sound like you are.

What rod will match well with this reel?
Something like the STE70HF shown on this page would work well: http://www.tackledirect.com/daiwa-saltist-boat-conventional-rods.html
