The Gamakatsu Kraken Outbarb Circle Hooks are a great addition to anglers fishing live or cut bait. Each hook is constructed from a premium grade high carbon steel, offering great strength to wire gauge and eliminating any potential failures from blemishes. An NS black corrosion resistant finish protects your hooks from the harsh marine environments, keeping it ready to go for heavy use to come. Its distinctive outbarb design has several advantages over the more traditional Western style barb that faces the shank, ultimately improving chances of hooked and landed fish. The outbarb style has greater holding power, as generally much of the wear is done inside the gap of the hook. Without the barb inside the gap, it mitigates any cutting potential the hook has to the fishes jaw and instead the jaw rides on a smoother surface. The outbarb design also enables an easier hook penetration, require much less force on the anglers part, as the inner gap of the hook has much of the force for hooksets. Moving the barb outside the gap simply reduces the thickness of the material that penetrates.
