Great line for deep or shallow water

Loved this line. Could use less weight in current in deep water and it held strand against several big bottom fish in dry tortugas .. worth every penny
  • Every single pro you could imagine
  • Cost but you get what you pay for

Thin But strong

Extremely surprised at the thin diameter. Hopefully it holds up long term but for the season so far I am very impressed.

My go to line

Love the JB braid. I have used it for a few years now. Small diameter, high strength. I fish halibut off the Oregon coast and have tried a few other lines, but JB is the winner for me.

Best line ever

Stronger softer more pliable fishing line can land fish twice its weight strength and because of the white color very visible to the angler give it a monofilament Top Shot and the fish don't have a clue

Great line but hollow core is better
October 26, 2016
I bought a spool of non hollow for surf casting for Tautog on my new Vanstaal VR 175 and 2016 St. Croix Legend surf and it held up really good. It's pretty smooth and less invasive then other lines I've used before. The casting wasn't too bad compared to powerpro slick. The strength was definitely stronger than powerpro. I also spooled up JB#65 hollow core on Vanstaal VR150 on a St. Croix Legend Salt for Tautog on a boat and I really love the hollow core. It all depends what you're using the line for, surf casting I'd go non-hollow, on a boat I'd recommend hollow core. I'd go Jerry Brown all the way for any line.

I use jerry brown for all of my big game/offshore braid. I used this braid on a Diawa Saltist 35H conventional and a Diawa Saltist 4500 spinning reel. Did great on a recent trip for blackfin and yellowfin tuna of the Texas coast. Great jigging line, it is smooth and has great knot strength. Handles bimini twists like a dream. Recomend this line to anyone.
  • smooth
  • great knot strength
  • accurate diameter

Caught alot of trees

Used this line to drift for catfish on the diversion canal between Lake Moultrie and Lake Marion. We only caught a blue gill and some other fish that was smaller than the blue gill. But what I'm pressed my dad and I both is that every time we snagged, we would pull up large branches or small trees, and 9 times out of 10 there was someones line or lure. We had two other poles with Power Pro 20lb and we both went through 5 or 6 hooks from lines snapping.

Line felt thinner than the 30lb and 20lb Power Pro we had on other poles. Knots tied well. Minimal dye on my fingers after stringing the reel.

Great line!

This stuff is smooth as silk and thinner than other 80lb class braids. It almost has a wax feel to it its so smooth. Only down side is that you usually have to wait for the line to become available from backorder and its not widely available in local stores such as BassPro or Dicks, but this is probably the reason why its such high quality line. Its not just manufactured in massive amounts that can affect the QC management.
  • smooth, thin, strength
  • not widely available in local shops, wait time if out of stock.

I recently lined up my Shimano TLD30IIA. The line is very strong and ties knots well. I had no issues with the line, top notch line that will be used extensively. The line seems to be very smooth as well.

Products jbr 0143-1 vs. jbr 0144-1 whats the difference? They both have the same name but one cost 649 dollars the other cost 319 dollars? Both are 200lb non hollow core braided jerry brown line??? Why is one twice the price??
1 Answer
Hello Tera, there's such a big price difference because JBR-0144-1 is 2500yds while JBR-0143-1 is only 1000 yards.

What's the difference between hollow core and non hollow core?

What applications are they used in. Pros/cons of each

1 Answer
Hi Irving, Basically Hollowcore is a "Hollow" Braid that you can put a line through it to create a seamless connection. This connection is near 100% breaking strength when done right and is typically used for offshore leaders and monofiliament topshots for offshore fishing applications. Non-Hollow Core line typically refers to a solid Braid Spectra which are most commonly used for almost any fishing application fresh or saltwater i.e. Powerpro. Non-Hollow Spectra can be tied and used for various things and its very easy to work with. Hollowcore is meant to be spliced into other lines and not tied to other lines like Non-Hollow Braids and can be difficult to use. Hollowcore's biggest advantage is the strength. You can have near 100% breaking strength when using Hollowcore line correctly. Non-Hollow braids usually are not able to achieve as high of breaking strength of the line due to knot failures. Each fishing application is different and you want to select the correct line for how and what your fishing for. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines

what are diameters of non-hollow braid 20#, 30#, 40#? It would be helpful when converting from mono to braid to have these posted with the line selections. Thank you!
1 Answer
Unfortunately Jerry Brown does not advertise their exact line diameters. They are generally a little bit thicker diameter than most other braids in the same lb test.

Hi. May I know what is the line diameter (in mm preferably) of your 65, 80 and 100lb non-hollow braided line please. I am thinking of spooling my new Daiwa Dogfight 7000H reel and trying to decide which poundage and yardage to buy. Thanks!
1 Answer
The 65 lb braid is .406mm, 80 lb braid is .457mm and the 100 lb braid is .508mm.
